The Buckeye Ranch Mural
Reaching out to me and making the first contact. I was commissioned by the Buckeye Ranch to design a mural for their developing playground for their West Broad St facility and the children that call the center home.
The Idea
Starting off with the remains of the building explosion. The location became available for use and soon a prime location for a playground for the children of the buckeye ranch and the neighboring schools.
Previously the Buckeye Ranch had garnered the funds for the playground but found that the building walls were still unseemly and didn’t provide a joyful atmosphere at all for the community.
Process
Over several sessions of interviewing the children of the Buckeye Ranch and neighboring schools and centers such as the boys and girls club, sharing my art pieces and story to spark inspiration to create and imagine. I started initiating drawing sessions in which myself and the community could design the features and themes of the mural together.
Soon, I took the inspiration and started sketching and designing what would soon be the final design.
